Our busy schedule caught up with us a little today. We started off strong with a morning run along the Guadalquivir River in Cordoba. The air is cool in the morning and the streets empty of tourists, which makes for a pleasant morning. After cleaning up we toured the Alcazar (palace/castle) and its gardens. The Alcazar was simple in design and decoration, which in turn provided many connections to geometry. We climbed the tower for views of the Mezquita and La Juderia. Chloe and I both loved strolling through the formal gardens with reflection pools, sculptures, flowers and fountains. A short walk led us to the Roman Bridge and Calahorra Tower.
We returned to Bodega Mezquita for lunch, then taxied to the train station for a RENFE ride back to Sevilla. Chloe was out like a light and I typed out a couple of blog entries. We were welcomed back to Hotel Adriano just in time for a siesta. Our evening paseo led us through the Plaza Nueva to a shopping and pedestrian zone on Calle Tetuan to the Plaza Virgen de los Reyes. We strolled, very slowly, up to the Barrio del Santa Cruz for tapas and laughs to finish off the day.
